Competitive Dance Without a Full-Time Schedule

EDC’s Part-Time Competitive program is for dancers who want more challenge, more performance opportunities and the experience of working toward shared goals with a team.

Current recreational dancers may be recommended by their teachers—and dancers who are new to EDC are welcome to request a competitive assessment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Part-Time Competitive FAQs

Can dancers who are new to EDC apply?

Yes. Dancers who are new to EDC are welcome to request a competitive assessment. Current recreational dancers may also be recommended by their teachers.

Does my dancer need previous competitive experience?

Not necessarily. Placement considers the dancer’s age, training, readiness, perseverance and attitude—not competitive experience alone.

How much weekly training is required?

Part-Time Competitive dancers train five hours or less per week. Specific required classes depend on the company and placement.

What additional costs should families expect?

In addition to training fees, families should plan for competition costs, travel within Southwestern Ontario, custom costumes, team apparel, accessories and makeup. Ask EDC for the current season’s detailed fee information.

What if we are interested but unsure about the commitment?

Requesting an assessment does not require you to accept a placement. It is an opportunity to learn more, ask questions and determine whether the program is right for your dancer and family.
